Rutu is Law Clerk in our trusts and asset planning team in Whangārei.

Rutu recently completed her Bachelor of Laws, alongside a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences, bringing a strong interdisciplinary perspective to her legal work.

At the early stage of her legal career, Rutu has a particular interest in trusts and asset planning and enjoys the opportunity to help clients think ahead and put practical structures in place to protect what matters to them. Working under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988, Rutu values being able to assist clients at important stages of life, where clear advice and careful planning can make a meaningful difference.

Before joining WRMK Lawyers, Rutu gained experience in public health intelligence and data analysis roles alongside her studies and tutoring, building strong analytical skills and a practical approach to problem-solving.

ABOUT Rutu

Outside of work, Rutu enjoys playing the piano, baking, and making the most of Northland’s walking tracks. Having grown up in the region, she values the strong sense of community in Whangārei and the opportunity to live and work close to home. Rutu has been actively involved in volunteering and leadership roles throughout her university life, including acting as the Events Coordinator for the Otago Women in Law Association, and is keen to continue her community service in Northland.

RECENT EXPERIENCE

Rutu’s recent experience includes volunteering with Citizens Advice Bureau, which involves supporting clients to navigate legal, social, and government services and experiencing vulnerability.
