WORKING WITH US

WRMK Lawyers is Northland’s largest law firm. Based in four offices across the North, we are proud of our reputation of being there for our clients whenever they need us. We believe in the importance of communication and being accessible, and have a strong focus on innovation, performance and excellence.

We’re recognised as an Employer of Choice in New Zealand for law firms. Our flexible working practices and friendly team environment mean our people enjoy coming to work, but have time away from the office to enjoy their families and the beautiful environment we have here in the North. You can read more about our team and culture below.

The work we do here is challenging and rewarding. We help families and businesses to protect what they’ve worked hard for, and grow it into something even better.

Our team have strong legal instincts, offer pragmatic advice and are passionate about excellent client service. If this sounds like you, we’d love you to become part of our firm.

Workplace culture

We have a non-hierarchical culture, led by a strong leadership team.

We work as a team to ensure the right person is doing the right work for the client. This win-win approach gives our clients access to expert legal advice in an efficient way, whilst also allowing our people to develop further. We know that the life experiences and differing perspectives of our team strengthen our business, and we actively foster an inclusive culture where all people can be their authentic self at work.

Real work for real lives

Our work tangibly makes a difference in our clients’ day-to-day lives. We work for real people, in both personal and commercial contexts, rather than distant, no-face corporations.

We help our clients through major life events – buying and selling property, building businesses, disputes, forming or separating relationships, deaths – and we seize the opportunity to make a real difference to our clients’ experiences of these events.

Life balance

When it comes to flexibility, we understand that one size doesn’t fit all, which is why 46% of our people have flexible working arrangements.

Our long standing approach tp flexible working enables our staff to work in ways that supports their whanau responsibilities, study commitments, and lifestyles (our people love getting out and about in this beautiful part of the country!). Collaboration and good systems are essential for making this flexibility work for our clients too.

Development

We strongly believe in our developing our own team before bringing in new people.

We help our people develop areas of specialisation, move between teams to expand their knowledge, develop into new roles or experience secondments in our other offices to ensure everyone continues to thrive at work. As the largest firm in the North, we are big enough to generate challenging work and provide internal progression opportunities, but small enough that we have the luxury of accelerating our peoples’ careers faster given the scope and breadth of the work and clients they are exposed to. Our people enjoy external conferences, networking opportunities, a raft of seminars, learning lunches, and leadership development opportunities.

Benefits

We work hard, but take the time to celebrate our successes and have fun together too (our morning teas are legendary).

We enjoy many social activities together, including Friday night drinks, sports events, mid-year and end of year functions and family-friendly staff events too. There are plenty of perks on offer for our team too, such as free personal legal work, income protection insurance cover, paid study leave, banking packages, discounted health insurance and our wellbeing programme.

Community

Our people are passionate about the North and always enthusiastic to give back to the communities that we live and work in.

We focus our efforts on supporting families fighting cancer, youth and education, and giving back to the smaller communities where our staff are actively involved. You can read more about our community programme on our About Us page.
